PlatinumGames en Cygames werkten aan action RPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink. De game moet dit jaar verschijnen voor de PlayStation 4. Opvallend genoeg wordt nu gemeld dat PlatinumGames stopt met het werken aan de game.
PlatinumGames laat weten dat het contract simpelweg is afgelopen en dat daardoor de ontwikkeling volledig naar Cygames gaat. Er is niet meteen reden voor paniek want de game is grotendeels af en moet in de komende maanden verschijnen in Japan. Daarnaast staat PlatinumGames bekend om de combat in games en dat moet nu al goed in elkaar zitten. PlatinumGames heeft daarnaast meerdere projecten waar hard aan aan gewerkt wordt waaronder Bayonetta 3 en Babylon’s Fall.
PlatinumGames heeft het volgende te zeggen over de ontwikkeling van Granblue Fantasy: Relink:
While we, PlatinumGames, have been working with Cygames in co-development of the upcoming console game Granblue Fantasy: Relink, we officially announce our contract on the project has come to an end. Development will still continue, but be handled solely by Cygames’ internal development team.
We would like to express our thanks to everyone who has shown interest in the project, and ask that the same support should continue for Granblue Fantasy: Relink as its production continues forward.
Granblue Fantasy Relink verschijnt in 2019 in Japan op de PlayStation 4. Een westerse release is aangekondigd maar heeft nog geen datum.
