Sony gaf in de presentatie van mei aan dat ze geloven in ‘the power of generations’. Enkele games zouden simpelweg niet werken op een PlayStation 4, omdat ze specifiek zijn gemaakt voor de PlayStation 5.
Enkele games die afgelopen mei zijn aangekondigd, komen blijkbaar toch naar de PlayStation 4. Het gaat om de games Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon II: Forbidden West en Sackboy: A Big Adventure.
PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan heeft in een interview hier het volgende over gezegd:
While these three games [including Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales] were designed to take advantage of PlayStation 5 and its unique next-gen features like the ultra-high-speed SSD and DualSense controller, PlayStation 4 owners will also be able to enjoy these experiences when they launch.
The PlayStation 4 digital versions of launch games include a free upgrade on both PlayStation 5 consoles, while the PlayStation 4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PlayStation 5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive.
De PlayStation 5 verschijnt op 19 november 2020 in Nederland en België.
