Sony Interactive Entertainment maakt bekend dat de PlayStation 5 game console, tot nu toe wereldwijd 20 miljoen keer is verkocht.
De PlayStation 5 verscheen in november 2022. In ruim twee jaar heeft de nieuwe console de mijlpaal van 20 miljoen verkochte exemplaren bereikt. Dat komt niet doordat de vraag laag is, want die is heel hoog. De pandemie heeft een enorme impact gehad op de productie en logistiek, maar ook de chiptekorten die nog altijd van kracht zijn. Volgens chipfabrikant AMD wordt de situatie in 2023 beter.
Sony verwacht in de komende maanden wel meer PlayStation consoles te kunnen leveren aan retailers over de hele wereld. De situatie wordt dus ietsje beter.

“To those fans who have yet to get their hands on a console, please know that we are planning on a significant ramp-up in PlayStation 5 production this year and we are working endlessly to make sure that PlayStation 5 is available for everyone who wants one,” she said.
