Na een uitstel van twee weken, starten Activision en Infinity Ward volgende week met het tweede seizoen van Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 en Warzone. Seizoen 2 start op 15 februari en komt als gratis update.
Om te beginnen krijgt Modern Warfare 2 eindelijk een Ranked Mode. Spelers kunnen hier proberen te promoveren om tegen mensen met hogere rankings te spelen. Volgens Activision bevat Ranked nieuwe beloningen en opties om op te scheppen. Modern Warfare 2 krijgt verder twee core maps en twee battle maps. Daarnaast wordt Hardcore Mode toegevoegd. Hier is er geen user interface, waarbij je ammo en locatie van vijanden zelf moeten managen. Ook is friendly fire hier geactiveerd, dus pas op dat je teamleden niet raakt. Modern Warfare 2 krijgt verder een tweede aflevering van de verhaalgedreven Raid-missie.
Warzone 2.0 content
Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 krijgt een nieuwe map genaamd Ashika Island. Activision beschrijft de map als volgt:
“Gemaakt door High Moon Studios, is Ashika Island een eeuwenoude stad die onder aanval ligt van Shadow Company troepen. Nadat je op het eiland landt door de mist, kunnen Operators navigeren naar het oude schip en de ruïnes, moderne appartementen en het centrum van de stad, maar ook een beach club, haven, boerderij, of het kasteel dat uitsteekt boven het eiland. Er zijn ook genoeg plekken om stiekem door de map te bewegen.”
Ashika Island is speciaal gemaakt voor de Resurgence Mode. Dit is een variant op de bekende Batte Royale-formule. Hier kan je terug tot leven komen als je sterft.
Resurgence krijgt drie varianten met verschillende release data. Activision beschrijft deze als volgt:
- Restore Honor (Launch, Resurgence): Every Operator on Ashika Island will drop a dog tag upon death, which can either be picked up by a squadmate or themselves after redeploying. Doing so grants a small Cash reward and a single UAV ping that marks both enemy threats and nearby Supply Boxes.
- Search and Seizure (In-Season, Resurgence): Reclaim a stolen vehicle from Shadow Company forces on the island. Operators must neutralize any guards near the vehicle, then grab the dropped key and get the vehicle to its designated drop-off point. Expect heavy resistance en route to your destination.
- Data Heist (In-Season, Resurgence): A new Public Event, the Data Heist occurs during the second circle collapse, when three uplink stations come online around the map. Squads can hack into and remain near the uplink station to gain intel. Eliminate incoming Shadow Company forces to speed up the download process. Enemy Operators can halt progress by contesting the station area directly or by using a DDoS Field Upgrade. Squads that successfully download the intel from two or three uplink stations will receive increased rewards, such as a random Killstreak or even an Advanced UAV.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is verkrijgbaar voor de PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S en de Xbox Series X.
