Nog een ontslagronde bij een groot bedrijf. Dit keer is het Electronic Arts die 6% van het personaal aan het ontslaan is.
Dat is ruim 800 mensen die ineens werkloos zijn. Het is niet duidelijk welke afdelingen of studio’s het hards zijn geraak. Met de herstructurering die tot september zal lopen, verwacht EA tussen de 170 en 200 miljoen dollar geld te besparen.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson over de herstructurering:
“As we drive greater focus across our portfolio, we are moving away from projects that do not contribute to our strategy, reviewing our real estate footprint, and restructuring some of our teams,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson said about the layoffs at EA via GamesIndustry.biz. “This is the most difficult part, and we are working through the process with the utmost care and respect.
“Where we can, we are providing opportunities for our colleagues to transition onto other projects. Where that’s not possible, we are providing severance pay and additional benefits such as health care and career transition services.”
Dit jaar alleen hebben Microsoft, Ubisoft, Twitter, Meta, Amazon en Google grote ontslagrondes aangekondigd.
