Warner Bros. gaat een nieuwe reeks The lord of the Rings-films maken, de eerste die draait om het personage Gollum staat gepland voor het jaar 2026.
De nieuwe film heeft een werktitel genaamd The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. Dit is nog een werktitel, dus dit kan nog aangepast worden richting release in de bioscoop. Andy Serkis die de iconische personage Gollum speelde in The Lord of the Rings, gaat terugkeren om weer in de huid te kruipen van Gollum.
De enige echte Peter Jackson, producent en regisseur van The Lord of the Rings-trilogie en The Hobbit-trilogie keert ook terug. Jason wordt de producent van de nieuwe film. De rollen voor executive producers zijn voor Ken Kamins en Jonathan Cavendish. Het plan is om The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum in 2026 uit te brengen in de bioscoop. Daarna moeten er meer films verschijnen over nog niet vertelde verhalen in de wereld van Middle Earth.

De laatste The Lord of the Rings-film namelijk The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, verscheen in het jaar 2014. Ondertussen werkt Amazon ook aan het tweede seizoen van de tv-serie The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Embracer Group werkt daarnaast aan videogames en bordspellen omtrent The Lord of the Rings.
Fans van The Lords of the Rings hebben dus veel om naar uit te kijken in de komende jaren!
