Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is volgens de CEO van Warner Bros. Discovery een teleurstelling. Waar Warner Bros. Games afgelopen jaar records brak met de game Hogwarts Legeacy, is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League flink tegengevallen, zowel verkoopcijfers als reviewscores van de internationale game media.
Volgens de CEO van Warner Bros. Discovery genaamd David Zaslav, is het verschil in omzet tussen dit jaar en afgelopen jaar, het verschil in het succes van Hogwarts Legacy en het falen van Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Volgens Warner Bros Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels heeft Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League ongeveer 200 miljoen dollar minder omzet heeft gemaakt dan de uitgever had verwacht.
De vraag is wat er gaat gebeuren met Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League nu het aantal spelers behoorlijk zijn gedaald. Ook zijn er alarmbellen voor ontwikkelaar Rocksteady Games. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is 8 jaar in ontwikkeling geweest en dat is extreem duur. Met de lay-offs in de games industrie, bestaat er een kans dat de studio Rocksteady weleens in gevaar kan zijn,

It’s a core value and a key advantage for us. We have the characters and the stories people love and yearn for everywhere in the world, in every language.
“Unfortunately, the studio’s Q1 financials were overshadowed by the tough [comparison] at Games, following the great performance of Hogwarts Legacy last year, and the disappointing release of Suicide Squad in Q1 in our gaming group.”
“This year, Suicide Squad, one of our key video game releases in 2024, has fallen short of our expectations since its release earlier in the quarter,” he noted at the time, “setting our games business up for a tough year-over-year comp in Q1.”
