Ondanks dat Naughty Dog‘s nieuwe game nog altijd niet is aangekondigd, blijft game directeur Neil Druckmann het project teasen met woorden die zorgen voor meer hype.
Volgens Druckmann kan de nieuwe game van Naughty Dog, ‘de blink van mainstream voor eens en voor altijd veranderen’, zo ambitieus is het mysterieus project. Druckmann is erg enthousiast over het nieuwe project en noemt het zelfs één van de droomprojecten waar hij aan heeft kunnen werken. Druckmann zegt dat The Last of Us tv-serie heeft gezorgd voor een nieuwe doelgroep en meer waardering voor gaming. Met het nieuwe project denkt Druckmann de perceptie van mainstream nog meer te kunnen veranderen.
“I’ve been lucky to work on several dream projects and am currently excited about a new one, which is perhaps the most thrilling yet. There’s a growing appreciation for gaming that transcends all age groups, unlike when I was growing up. This shift is highlighted by our venture into television with The Last of Us, which I hoped would bridge the gap between gamers and non-gamers.
“The show’s success has spotlighted gaming, illustrating the rich, immersive experiences it offers. This visibility excites me not only for our current project but for the broader potential of gaming to captivate a global audience. I’m eager to see how this new game resonates, especially following the success of The Last of Us, as it could redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming.”
Wat in ieder geval zeker is, is dat de nieuwe game van Naughty Dog, geen The Last of Us: Part III gaat zijn. Druckmann heeft wel ideeën voor een derde deel in de populaire post-apocalyptische franchise, maar het eerst volgend project van Naughty Dog is niet The Last of Us: Part III.
