[E3 2019] Xbox Baas Phil Spencer had Sony graag gezien op de E3

Sony was dit jaar voor het eerst in 24 jaar afwezig op een E3. In een interview met Giantbomb werd de baas van Xbox namelijk Phil Spencer gevraagd over de afwezigheid van concurrent Sony PlayStation op de E3. Spencer gaf aan dat hij grote spelers als Activision en Sony, graag had gezien op de E3. De E3 is volgens Spencer een heel belangrijke gebeurtenis in de game industrie die vaak onder vuur ligt. Als meerdere grote partijen de E3 verlaten, kan dit nadelige effecten hebben op de imago van de E3.

I wish Sony was here, I wish Activision did not give the show a miss. E3 is not as good when they’re not here. E3 remains relevant and important to the gaming world. It’s a time in the year when the whole world is watching gaming, and that’s very important today when the industry is coming under criticism and judgment.

E3 is an important time of year to show the world that gaming is not just kids in a basement. And without juggernauts like Sony and Activision, E3 could take a hit in terms of prominence
