Het lijkt erop dat Nintendo Switch Online in de toekomst wordt uitgebreid met emulators van de Game boy, Game Boy Color en Game Boy Advance.
Dataminers hebben bestanden gevonden die hinten naar meerdere emulators die ontwikkeld worden door NERD (Nintendo Europe Research & Development). Nintendo Switch Online geeft gebruikers al toegang tot de NES en SNES emulators op de Nintendo Switch. Wie lid is van Nintendo Switch Online + Uitbreidingspakket, krijgt ook toegang tot de emulators SEGA Mini Drive en de Nintendo 64.
In de toekomst komen daar zeer waarschijnlijk de Game boy, Game Boy Color en Game Boy Advance. Twitter-gebruiker Mondo_Mega heeft een lijst met GBA-games gedeeld die tot nu toe getest zijn door Nintendo via de emulator. Deze games zijn als volgt:
