Op 25 tot en met 29 staat de Gamescom 2020 gepland, de grootste gamebeurs van Europa in Keulen, Duitsland. Door het gevaar van het Coronavirus, kan het evenement geannuleerd worden. Voorlopig gaan de plannen door, voor een traditioneel fysiek evenement.
Organisators Koelnmesse en Game, melden dat de Gamescom dit jaar hoe dan ook door gaat. Mocht het evenement in Keulen geannuleerd worden, dan zal er een digitaal evenement plaatsvinden met alle nieuwe onthullingen een aankondigingen van uitgevers en ontwikkelaars. De organisators gaan in mei bekendmaken of de fysieke beurs doorgaat of niet.
De Gamescom van 2020 is extra belangrijk want na de zomer komen de nieuwe consoles van Sony en Microsoft uit. De Gamescom zou mogelijk de plek zijn waar gamers voor het eerst in Europa hands-on zouden kunnen met de PS5 en de Xbox Series X.
